"There was this, it was a show in Philly, we had this show. And in this show there was a day off, I was walking around. And I walked passed this homeless woman, as your prown to see in big cities, you see lots of homeless people. And you know, I always felt like, you should give money to charitable organizations or something, so you know that it goes to good things. You know it goes to food, or shelter, or something.
If you just give money to somebody on the street, I always felt like you never really know, if it's just gonna help them, if they got a habit or something, or if their gonna get a drink. Or who knows what, you know? I always felt it's better to go through the proper channels.
I passed this woman, and she asked for some change. And I was all in my own head, and I just said my usual thing. And said no, I'm sorry, and just kept on going. And it was her response that just stopped me in my tracks. She just said, that's alright, I understand.
And it killed me, it just killed me. And I turned around and gave her everything I had in my pocket which wasn't much, but it was like, you know, it was like $250 bucks or something, I don't know whatever it was like in my pocket. It wasn't much, but I gave it all to her, and she just looked at it for a minute, and she got up. She came over and grabbed my shoulders and said, what's your name. I said, my names Ray. She said, I'm Betty.
I want you to know my name so you'll never forget it, and I'll never forget your name!
